The Guqin, an ancient Chinese seven-stringed zither, one of the oldest musical instruments in the world and known for its ethereal tones. It's the original "Qin" and holds the premier position among the four classical arts of ancient China (Music, Go, Calligraphy, and Painting).
Guqin's history is steeped in legend. It is said that the Guqin was first created by the mythical emperor Shennong with five musical notes that rise in pitch, from gong (宫),shang (商),jue (角),zhi (徵), to yu (羽), which correspond roughly to the notes of 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6 in today's numbered musical notation. Later, two more strings were added by King Wen of Zhou (1112BC —1050BC), resulting in the seven-stringed instrument we know today. Other accounts credit Fu Xi, who crafted the Qin to play music so pure it could cleanse the world of chaos and evil spirits. In every iteration, the ancients infused their profound understanding of harmony, nature, and the universe into the instrument's design.
The true magic of the Guqin is found not in solo contemplation, but in the shared joy of its ancient rhymes. We invite you to join our community of Zhi Yin (true friends/connoisseurs) in beautiful Vienna.
Don't miss this opportunity to share the elegance and tranquility of a thousand-year-old art form on a beautiful autumn afternoon.
We sincerely look forward to connecting with you!
